After a few days of indulgent Vegas fun, I sometimes feel like I need a vacation from my vacation. Which is why on my next jaunt to Sin City, I’m planning to top off my trip with a couple days of nature and pampering at Red Mountain Resort & Spa in St. George, Utah. This resort is just a two-hour drive from Las Vegas, and it’s surrounded by a beautifully tranquil landscape of red desert rocks and mountains.
Red Mountain provides many opportunities to work off those Vegas buffet pounds–savor the outdoors by hiking, biking, kayaking or mountain biking, or take your pick from a comprehensive schedule of fitness classes (Yoga for Detox and Power Pilates sound like good picks to me). Then, when you’re ready to relax (and perhaps spend some of your Vegas winnings), head for the Sagestone Spa for a Canyon Warm Stone Massage or rejuvenating body treatment.
Keep in mind: Check out Red Mountain’s specials and last minute deals before booking–the packages offered are quite inclusive (e.g. three meals a day and unlimited fitness classes) and probably a better deal than going a la carte.
Bonus tip(s): Gorgeous Zion National Park is really close to St. George and definitely worth checking out. Use the park’s hiking guide to find the paths/trails that fit with your schedule and fitness level.
